Knitting Projects

With fall now here and winter so close this is the time that i love to knit. Nothing beats sitting by the fireplace while watching my favorite TV shows and creating some beautiful knitting wear. Mind you this is after my daughter has gone to bed, i rarely have the time to do any of it while she's awake.

Currently i'm in the middle of making fingerless gloves for my sister, then i need to make a couple more of the earflap hats for some of my guy friends and of course my husband. Then i need to create a pillow pattern for friends coming into town next year! I hope it turns out as i'm pretty excited about this project!

I also need to figure out what to make myself next, since my last project i made for myself was a big flop. I read the pattern wrong and the dress was way bigger than expected. I will eventually post a picture when i get brave enough to show my big mistake!

Subscription

So i am a huge magazine reader especially knitting magazines. I get excited when i see a new one in my mail box. Of course today was that day, i get home and there is a new magazine awaiting for me to read.

Have you checked out the Knit Simple Magazine? If you haven't i highly recommend it. It has a ton of awesome patterns, some hard and some easy.

This is the new one that came in today! I am so very excited. :) I'll let you know if i find any new patterns in there that i like!

Recent work!

So this is one blog i haven't posted much on, but i want to make more of an effort to do so, especially now that i've been knitting more and have had the chance to really finish some cool projects lately.

My two recent projects were winter hats for my husband and daughter. It's sad knowing that winter is just around the corner but i am glad that their hats will keep their heads warm.

Here is a picture of the two of them together! Aren't they cute! :)

I found the ski hat pattern on Knitty It was definietly a challenging hat as this is something that was more of a harder pattern than i am used too. This was my first time using double pointed needles and small ones at that. The yarn was a worested weight #4 which worked well.

Callie's hat was definietly more of an easier pattern. It was seed stitch on the ear flaps and stockin' knit stitch on the top. Every year i get Callie to pick her yarn that way i know she will wear it!

I even had to make her puppy a cute little hat!

Another knitted piece done!

I'm a huge knitting buff and i tend to buy lots of magazines and books. Do i need half of them? Probably not. For the most part you can find anything online. I found this pattern online and i thought it would have been the perfect piece for a baby gift. It was a simple pattern and didn't take long to make.

Colds are evil

Currently our family is battling colds, which means lots of Kleenex. It's kind of a good thing that i buy the good stuff otherwise our noses would be red like Rudolph the red nose reindeer.

I am however learning to Crochet since i know how to Knit. It is such a different feeling using one needles as opposed to 2. I have a co-worker who has been helping me and the nice thing it's a very easy simple pattern.

Here is the picture of the baby blanket. I have a number of friends who are expecting and this baby blanket is for ones who don't know what they are having. They are the rocker type of parents so i'm doing the baby blanket, ivory and black! I think it'll look pretty cool when it's done!

Winter Blues....

Now i don't know how many people get the Winter Blues, but i do. I'm not a winter sports fan and i'm not into being outside and freezing my buns off. I would prefer being at home with my nice warm fire place on and watching a movie.

So i'm hoping that Spring/Summer will be here soon so i can enjoy the nice warm weather outside!

New Year and more posts....

I am going to make my goal this year to add more posts. What kind of posts you ask, well that i haven't figured out as of yet. Being a full time worker/mom and a side baker can be tiring. But i love blogging on my cake site and i need to find time to do it on my personal site.

In the meantime you can check out some of my knitting projects from 2010 http://www.flickr.com/photos/egyptianqueen/sets/72157623065655791/

I am hoping that within 2011 i can create more wonderful knitted things.
